When you start getting old, sometimes your memories create weird interference patterns in your vision of current realities. History doesn't repeat, they say, but it sure does echo.
Now that the birdsite has changed all its URLs over to URLs on the x.com domain, I can't see one of those links without thinking of X-COM: UFO DEFENSE, the classic 1994 MicroProse game that ate so VERY many hours of my younger life:
But then again, I still sometimes jerk in startlement when I see a light-colored upper case D surrounded by dark space on a monitor. It's been at least 35 years since I played so much Dungeons Of Moria or Nethack or whichever roguelike that I accidentally trained myself to flinch at the symbol for "you have met an Ancient Dragon in a dark place, prepare to die" -- but that flinch is trained deep into the meat.
