All over the US government right now we hear rumors like this one, of the NSA forced to delete every doc in its internal systems that mentions privilege escalation attacks because the Grand Stupids In Charge won't allow the word "privilege" on any government server:

Every time I see shit like this, my mind returns to the backstory of Charles Stross's (@cstross) Glasshouse: history a mostly-missing muddled mystery after waves of deletions in centuries of censorship wars.
PS Narrative logic now requires that this asshole or one of his asshole successors must be destroyed by a privilege escalation attack that nobody saw coming because, well, they were tough to talk about in government infosec circles.
PPS Is anybody else old enough to remember reading Neal Stephenson's novel Snow Crash? When it came out 30+ years ago the chapter on life in "Fedworld" (a nightmarishly bureaucratic US government of not much scope or power) didn't get much appreciation. But I'll bet a great many federal employees in agencies that are presently being eaten alive and spit out by an unaccountable oligarch are having Snow Crash flashbacks today.
