This feels like an alien invasion of the United States.

"NIH officials have urged scientists to remove all references to mRNA vaccine technology from their grant applications, two researchers said, in a move that signaled the agency might abandon a promising field of medical research.

'Kennedy’s war on vaccines has started,' the scientist told his colleague.

KFF Health NewsScientists Say NIH Officials Told Them To Scrub mRNA References on Grants - KFF Health NewsTwo senior scientists say National Institutes of Health officials advised them to remove references to mRNA vaccines in grant applications, and they fear the Trump administration will abandon a promising field of medical research.

From @ScienceAlert: Baleen whales undertake some of the longest yearly migrations, with humpbacks travelling up to 8,300 km (about 5,150 miles) from Antarctica to warmer wintering grounds. With them, the whales shuttle resources from nutrient-rich polar regions to the less resourced warmer regions of the oceans. Amazingly enough, a huge amount of this nutrient distribution comes from whale urine, which disperses nitrogen and other elements through the ocean when nature inevitably calls.

ScienceAlert · Whale Pee Transports Nutrients Across Thousands of Miles, Study RevealsGreat rivers of whale pee make a remarkable contribution to Earth's cycling of nutrients, a new study reveals.

so the research community is fighting back against trump

and the courts, for now, are on their side.

but i feel like there are four years of this vehement anti-science agenda ahead, the trupm admin started trying to dismantle pretty much all of our scientific endeavors immediately, and they installed leadership at various agencies that will move to fulfill their goals.
so while the pushback is awesome, it feels like more needs to happen.

A study solves the mystery of the ‘lost’ arctic owls that appeared in northern Spain three years ago.

Analysis of the isotopes of their feathers rules out the possibility that they were born in captivity and suggests that they came from somewhere in the Arctic and may have arrived on a boat.

Why does nature love spirals? Because Kenner's ad campaign, "Your eyes won't believe what your hands have done" really captured Nature's imagination. And it was bored on a rainy Saturday, and driving its Mother nuts

A first look at the #underground visit to the Sanford Underground Research Facility. We arrived early in the morning to gear up and then catch a 07:30 cage (elevator) to the 4850ft level. We then rode a tram on a rail line from the Yates Shaft and the “Davis Campus” of the lab over to the “Ross Campus”, where the DUNE (Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment) will be constructed.
